Grandpa’s Garden
-
Grandfather's Garden is an excerpt from the autobiographical novel The Legend of Hulan River by the famous modern novelist Xiao Hong.
I played and grew up happily in this small garden while my grandfather cultivated and worked here; I was my grandfather's "happy fruit" while he was my childhood playmate and my "umbrella", accompanying and caring for me. In a child's world, the wind comes and goes, flowers bloom and fall, insects walk and birds fly, and there is something special about it. In my grandfather's world, he inadvertently created a natural, free, and beautiful paradise for his children, where their imagination could run wild.
