This is a series of five standalone short stories that speak of self-discovery, growth, reunions, departures, and the relationship between humankind and nature. In A Story About Nothing, the protagonist is a “story” who starts off with nothing, and seeks to find its characters and ultimately, purpose. The Wrinkly Town’s eponymous character is in search of a special resident who goes missing...In The Heart of a Rock, rocks become endearing characters. These give stories are all timeless tales that weave reality and fantasy seamlessly, the pages accompanied with atmospheric illustrations done in mixed media.

Xiangmei LONG (writer) comes from Hunan province, China. Her works are charged with vivid imagination inspired by her memories as a child. Xiangmei also captures the nostalgia of growing up in the countryside of central China and the connection between humans and nature.
Monica LIAW (illustrator) graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. Her works combine various mediums, from watercolour and pastel to collage. She has been awarded a merit award by the Society of Illustrators and was previously a book designer at HMHCO.
