Long long time ago, the Buyi people relied on people to carry plows and cultivate, which was very difficult. There was a young man named Ah-Niu who was determined to find something that could replace human farming. Under the guidance of a white haired elderly man, after countless hardships, he finally found and subdued the divine bull. The leader took possession of the divine bull, but in the leader's hands, the divine bull turned into a stone bull. Ah-Niu and the villagers tried their best to revive the divine bull. Because this day is the eighth day of the fourth lunar month, the Buyi people took this day as a festival ever after, and every year on this day, they would use herbs to make five-coloured glutinous rice to worship the bull king and feed the hardworking oxen, and give the oxen a day off. On this day, a grand bullfighting competition will also be held, and the owner of the ox who has been awarded the title of Bull King will receive honours and rewards. The owner of the ox will warmly entertain every guest.
